Inch Dumbbell

The original Thomas Inch Dumbbell, also known as "172" or the "Inch", is a dumbbell that weighs 172 lbs. 9 oz. (78.3 kg). It is difficult to lift, partly due to its weight, but primarily because its handle is very thick at 2 3/8" (6.03 cm) in diameter and 4" in length (10.1cm) . Replicas of the Inch have been made and lifting one of these is regarded as a feat of strength.

Heavier Inch dumbbells have also been created, with each weight considered a strength feat in its own right.
